Daughter’s nursery, 2020

The wallpaper came from Etsy in the wrong colorway. I hung it anyway, and I still love this room.

This is my daughter’s nursery, 2020. Right in the middle of the pandemic. The world was quietly chaotic. Even without having family and friends around to celebrate her birth, I still wanted her to have the “perfect” room. I wanted her to have a little sky, a little moon, a place that felt like a dream she could grow into.

Crib and dresser are Ethan Allen. Bedding and glider are Pottery Barn Kids. Chandelier is Home Depot. The moon is from a toy shop in Ellicott City. Some of it was new. Some of it was already here from her brother.

I painted those clouds when this room was his nursery. I put in the glass door then too, so I could walk by, peek through, and not wake a sleeping baby. That still feels like one of the kindest things I ever built into a house.

You don’t have to get every piece perfect. You just have to make a space they can feel loved in.
