Taming My Party & Entertaining Closet—Step by Step (No Panic Allowed)
Alright, confession time: my “Party & Entertaining” closet used to be a disaster zone. Bins teetered on the shelves, tablecloths were buried alive, and I swear I once found a lone flamingo stake hiding in a corner, mocking me. This weekend, I finally bit the bullet—and it started with the floor.
You know that ugly laminate roll you find in bargain bins? I slapped down a peel-and-stick tile overlay (hello, starburst pattern!) and suddenly the closet felt like its own little party zone. Next: I ditched those sad, mismatched tubs and ordered a fresh fleet of clear boxes from Lowe’s. Bonus points—they delivered right to my door, so I didn’t even have to wrestle traffic.
With empty shelves and sparkly new flooring, I laid out every item: coffee carafes, cookie cutters, back-drop extras—you name it. I sorted into three piles:
Everyday Essentials (coffee urns, pitchers, basics)
Table Linens (neatly folded by color)
Theme Gear (flamingos, mystery-game props, cookie-decoration supplies)
Then came the labels—those navy chalkboard stickers are life-changing. One quick peel, stick, and I’ll never have to open a box to know what’s inside again. I even taped a tiny QR code on each tub that links to a snapshot of its contents (future me will be eternally grateful).
Finally, I slid the boxes back: top shelf for daily entertaining tools, middle for seasonal and party-specific treasures, bottom for the heavy stuff (looking at you, margarita machine). I stood back, poured myself a celebratory coca cola and…for the first time in forever, actually enjoyed opening that closet. Then I realized I was late for carpool.
One room at a time, friends. Next up: Holiday storage. But after nailing this mini-makeover, I’m kind of looking forward to it. Let’s keep the momentum going—one bin, one label, one peel-and-stick tile at a time.
